VRI’s response to Sandy
Hurricane Sandy was a regional disaster unlike any we’ve seen before. Previous disasters were geographically centered – one building, one city, one power grid, etc. But Sandy was different. Much of our service area was impacted. We supported customers on Long Island, Staten Island, the Jersey Shore, and lower Manhattan. Many of our competitors closed and suspended regular service for a 2 or 3 day period. VRI’s facilities were never closed. VRI’s customers received “business as usual” support during this entire time. All support was done by the existing VRI Operations Staff, the same people who support our customers’ needs on a day-to-day basis. So, thanks to all of them and thanks to all of you. Events like this make us appreciate just how good VRI’s Operations staff can be, and we know how fortunate we are to have so many great customers to work with.
